Peru Jungle Lodge Adventure

PERU JUNGLE LODGE TRIP EXTENSION:  RESERVA AMAZONICA - 3 Days

Join us for a relaxing sojourn at Reserva Amazonica, a top rated 5-star Peruvian jungle lodge, located in Tambopata in Peru’s southern Amazon region close to Brazil and Bolivia on the left bank of the Madre de Dios River.

Peru Jungle Lodge Extension Itinerary

Arriving by plan in Puerto Maldonado, we begin our trip with a city tour followed by a trip by dugout canoe from the main port on the Madre de Dios River to our jungle retreat at Reserva Amazonica.

The Reserva Amazonica jungle lodge is has 38 private cabins and six Amazonica suites built from local materials in native Machuguenga and Ese-Eja style. Standard cabins have a terrace with two hammocks, a large bedroom with single and double beds, mosquito nets and private bathrooms with cold filtered water. Suites at the lodge are 50% larger than the standard rooms and include a luxurious bedroom with two double beds and mosquito nets, a large bathroom, a walk-in closet, bay windows and spacious terrace. Service areas are located in a two story wooden pavilion with a cathedral ceiling, screens and mosquito nets. The Pavilion houses the dining room, four balconies with reading areas, bar and modern kitchen. Meals are carefully prepared using fresh local foods. Cold drinks are available throughout the day.

Our bilingual guide will take you for a tour on the trails near the lodge and a visit to the Reserva Amazonica botanical garden which contains more than 200 medicinal jungle plants. The following morning, you will awaken to the melody of jungle sounds and take a hike through the jungle to a boat ride on Lake Sandoval. Later, we hike a back to the Madre de Dios River visiting the remains of the Fitscarraldo steam boat lying deep in the middle of the jungle and visit to a native “chacra” and Monkey Island. Our journey draws to a close with a tropical breakfast and our return flight to Cusco or Lima.
