Nepal - Sun Kosi River
“The surging waves and thunderous holes serve my quest for connection with nature’s awesome power.” – Dr. Stephen Gunther, California
WHITE WATER RAFTING IN NEPAL - SUN KOSI RIVER - fits within a 2 week period
Beautiful scenery, unique cultural encounters, and exciting white water make the Sun Kosi River one of the ten best rafting and kayaking rivers in the world.
Nepal’s “River of Gold”, the Sun Kosi rises high near Mt. Shisha Pangrma in Tibet and runs east through the great Mahabharay Lekh Mountains and the Himalaya. It forms the watershed for most of eastern Nepal. Gathering strength as it collects tributaries draining the highest mountains of the world, it emerges onto the Northern plains of India where it joins the Ganges. Together they wind down to the Bay of Bengal and into the Indian Ocean.
From the put-in at Dolalghat to the take out at Chatara, our Bio Bio white water rafting trip on the Sun Kosi covers 270 kms, through some of Nepal’s most remote countryside “expedition style”. Carrying everything we need in our rafts, there are no roads, towns, or other trappings of “civilization” to rely on as we navigate the Class III-IV rapids of the Sun Kosi. The rapids on the first few days are not difficult and prepare us for the harder rapids below. “Meatgrinder, High Anxiety, Jaws, Hackapur, Roller Coaster, and The Big Dipper” are only some of the rapids that have earned their names and reputations from previous expeditions.
Join us for a stunning white water trip through the unexplored regions of Nepal!
