Bio Bio’s head guide in Costa Rica, Jorge Esquivel, was born and raised in Costa Rica and is the current freestyle whitewater kayaking Champion of Costa Rica. Jorge has explored every corner of his beloved country and helped us create our trip itinerary which includes the very best of Costa Rica in ten days. You will be accompanied throughout the trip by Jorge himself as well as other expert guides. We have also ensured that all of the lodgings and activities on our trip are sanctioned to meet the current sustainability guidelines of Costa Rica’s Eco-Toursim Board.

Bio Bio Expedition's History in Costa Rica
Bio Bio Expedition’s ties to Costa Rica go way back! In 1991, Marc Goddard and Laurence Alvarez Roos, Bio Bio Expeditions’ co-founders and owners, lived and worked in Costa Rica as guides, becoming very familiar with the many rivers, rich forests, and fun-loving culture. When Marc and Laurence competed with Team California in the Project R.A.F.T. World Championship of rafting and took home First Place, they helped draw attention to the threat of hydroelectric projects on Costa Rica’s precious rivers.
