California Adventure Vacations
“It was a pleasure to run the Cal Salmon with such an elite team of guides. It is obvious that the other companies are looking up to the Bio Bio team. They bring the same style to the Cal Salmon as they do on their Peru and Chile trips.” - Dr. Stephen Gunther, California
CALIFORNIA RAFTING AND KAYAKING
Join us to discover the best hidden secret of California for anyone who likes to go white water rafting or kayaking! California’s northern reaches where the rapids of the free flowing Cal Salmon and Scott Rivers and the Klamath River descend through pristine wilderness under the watch of bald eagles, osprey, great heron, river otter, deer and the occasional bear.
The crystal clear Cal Salmon River churns into a frothy, stampeding torrent of Class IV-V white foam and breaking waves for nearly 30 miles. An occasional deep clear pool through the deep inner gorge allows a few moments of respite and deep breathing before the next set of run away fun rapids, such as the famous Airplane turn, Swirling Dervish, Bloomers Falls, Cascade, Last Chance and Freight train!
The Wild and Scenic Scott River is a true gem but has a short season for it drains the eastern side of the Marble Mountains and hence gets less snow pack than the Cal Salmon. Once you push off from the starting eddy on the Scott, you join a toboggan ride of Class II-III whitewater fun, charging down a polished granite gorge, flanked above by jungle green moss and fern growth.
The Klamath River, named after the Indian name “Klamet,” or “swiftness” for it’s rapid flows at Hells Corner is host to scores of bald eagles, wild horses. numerous endangered species and spectacular scenery. This northern Californian and southern Oregon river flows through a remote pine and oak forested canyon as it transects the Cascade Range on its way through coastal rain forest to the Pacific Ocean. The Klamath is warm in temperature and has the perfect combination of calm pools for practicing rolls in a kayak with beginner-friendly Class I-II+ rapids.
